Vivo Energy expands network with MTN Uganda stepping up security

Speaking at the official opening of the Shell Kitetika service station along Gayaza Road this week, Stan Mittelman, Vivo Energy Chief Executive Officer, said, “The expansion of our Shell network in Uganda with 10 new service stations reflects Vivo Energy’s commitment to investing in the growth of our business and delivering greater convenience for our customers.”
He said, “This milestone comes during a transformative year for Vivo Energy, marked by our acquisition of the Engen business earlier this year, taking us to around 4,000 service stations across 28 African markets. We remain focused on providing world-class products and services while strengthening our presence to support the journeys of our customers across Africa.”
Other flagship locations include Shell Kitemu and Shell Masanafu. with the commissioning of 10 additional stations this year, this brings the total number of Shell service stations in Uganda to 191, reaffirming the company’s commitment to making its world-class fuels and services more accessible across the country.
MTN Uganda CEO, Sylvia Mulinge said, “MTN Uganda is proud to partner with Vivo Energy Uganda to enhance security at Shell service stations nationwide through the MTN Smart Eyes for Enterprise solution. This cloud-based CCTV system enables remote monitoring of over 100 sites via a centralized platform, offering simplified management, intelligent storage, and 90-day footage access. With real-time oversight via web links or mobile apps, Vivo Energy Uganda benefits from a streamlined, secure, and digitized approach to operations.”
According to company officials, the partnership with MTN Uganda to implement the CCTV initiative underscores Vivo Energy Uganda’s commitment to innovation and customer safety. The system presently covers 90% of Shell stations, but will be fully operational across the entire network by the end of the year. The new service station design incorporates innovative elements that not only elevate the Shell look, but also enhance the overall customer experience.
