Stanbic nods to Digital Impact awards
KAMPALA, AUGUST2 2 – Uganda’s largest lender Stanbic sees the Digital Impact Awards as a creative way of shining the spotlight on Ugandan’s efforts to embrace the digital way of life.
Speaking shortly after the bank was announced winner of the Best Corporate website and the Most Promising Social Media Embrace gongs at The Digital Impact Awards held at the Kampala Serena last Thursday, Veronica Sentongo, Stanbic Uganda’s Head of Digital banking described the awards as “a brilliant means of showcasing the efforts that Ugandans are taking to embrace the digital journey throughout Africa.”
“It is clear that technology equates convenience and organisations that do not embrace it will be left behind by their customers,” she added.
Running under the banner of “Maximizing the Digital Dividend”, the Digital Impact Awards recognise the strides made by corporate organisations towards achieving cyber-security, digital and financial inclusion.
Stanbic has been aggressively pushing digital banking solutions for its customers and has recently introduced the Stanbic App, which provides its customers across Africa with a single-view platform for all interaction with the services offered by the bank. Ms Sentongo said that customers can access their business and personal accounts, pay utility bills and make account transfers within Stanbic and to other banks from this single platform. Other functionalities of the Stanbic App include comprehensive beneficiary management, payments to phone contacts and cash withdrawals without a card.
“The lifestyle patterns of our clients are changing, mobile communications devices are playing an increasingly influential role in our personal and professional lives. Stanbic believes we have key role to play in that lifestyle transformation by providing financial solutions that are relevant to the world we live and the one unfolding in front of us,” she added
