flyDubai goes double daily on Entebbe-Dubai
December 21, 2018 – Middle Eastern carrier flyDubai has upped its frequencies to Uganda moving to a double daily service. For several weeks now, the carrier has been operating a second rotation to Dubai with departures out of Entebbe separated by just 1 hour and 55 minutes.
This is the first double-daily medium haul service between Entebbe and any destination longer than 5 hours flying time. It is being seen as a product of natural growth and flydubai’s recent integration of schedules with its bigger sibling Emirates which also operates daily to Entebbe.
The second rotation, FDB619 comes as an option to FDB 617 which offers an onward service to Kinshasa. But owing to a lack of traffic rights between Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo, the carrier only drops Uganda bound passengers on the inbound leg from Dubai while the outbound FDB 618 can only pick Dubai bound passengers.
The additional flights comes after the Kinshasa leg, launched in April 2018, quickly gained traction. FDB 619 which departs Dubai in the evening is popular with the trading community who now have the option of same day returns.
