Equity Bank Uganda launches digital range
October 16—Equity Bank Uganda has launched a range of digital banking platforms in a bid to enhance banking experience for its customers. The bank is a subsidiary of the Kenya-based Equity Bank Group.
The series of digital solution products dubbed ‘Eazzy Banking’ will enable customers do banking at their own convenience and take charge of their banking.
The products include an Eazzy banking app that will allow customers to transfer funds to other accounts and mobile wallets as well as pay utility bills; Eazzy club, which will help investment clubs, groups and welfare clubs manage their joint finances and investments.
Others are Eazzy Remittance, which will allow customers automate electronic fund transfers, RTGS and mobile transfers; and Eazzynet, a retail internet portal that allows customers to manage their bank accounts.
In addition, Equity Bank also introduced an Eazzy pay app, which allows customers to pay for services and goods at registered merchant shops, a mobile based loan product known as Eazzy loan, a cash and liquidity management app called EazzyBiz and EazzyAPIs platform for APIs.
Speaking at the launch of the new products, the Managing Director Equity Bank Uganda, Samuel Kirubi, said these series of products were aimed at changing the banking experience for its customers and allowing them to manage their banking experience without having to draw long lines in banks or having to interface with tellers.
“These services have been informed by consumers banking trends. Bank consumers now want self service channels to enable them bank anywhere any time,” Kirubi said.
He said, “With the launch of these products, some already working and other by end of this year, customers will experience convenient banking. Banking is no longer the place you go to but something you do. We encourage all our customers to download these apps which are easy to manage so that they can easy their banking experience and have more time on them to do other things instead of wasting time coming to the bank.”
According to him, almost all services offered by the bank can be acceded on phone including asking and paying for a loan, checking bank balances, transferring funds and many others.
“We are planning to enroll agency banking also by end of this year. After that, our customers will never need to come to banks to get any bank service,” he said.
Equity bank Uganda’s digital strategy is strengthened by strategic partnerships with global leading experts in data security, bid data capture and analytics. This is to ensure that the different digital platforms are secured and uninterrupted by hackers.
