Accor Hotels set to make Ugandan debut
KAMPALA, MARCH 15– French hôtel group Accor Hotels is set to make a maiden entry into the Ugandan market after the country was selected as one of 13 markets in Africa where booking options will be available on the online hotel booking engine Jovago.
Jovago and Accor Hotels signed a partnership March 14 under which all Accor Hotels on the African continent will be available on the Jovago.
Although Accor is not known to have a property in Uganda, the country is mentioned as one of the 13 countries on the continent where 30 Accor properties will be mounted on Jovago engine.
Enquiries by 256BN confirmed that an Accor property in Uganda was in the pipeline although we could not establish the location and timelines. Industry sources however, speculate that the Aya Hotel could be a candidate for Accor branding after a reported fallout between the developers and the Hilton group.
“AccorHotels is one of the largest players in the hotel industry in Africa. As Africa’s leading hotel booking platform, we are proud to incorporate AccorHotels into our platform in order to provide our African customers with high quality hotels in the key cities of the continent” said Jovago CEO Paul Midy at the signing.
Describing the tie-up with Jovago as part of “a continuous process of dynamic innovation aiming to always mix more efficiently the digital experience with our hospitality know-how Accor Hotels VP Sales Marketing Distribution & Revenue Management for Africa & Indian Ocean Souleymane Khol said the partnership with Jovago would contribute to establishing Accor Hotels our distribution strategy in Africa.
