Samsonite, the world’s largest manufacturer of luggage accessories has announced the launch of a tracking device that can be built into its suitcases to allow owners easily track it. The Track and Go solution that will be available in the European market at the end of the year, runs on Bluetooth beacon secured by Google.

“Missing or permanently lost luggage is the nightmare of every traveler. As the world’s largets  luggage manufacturer, we wanted to find a way to make this issue a thing of the past,” says Samsonite CEO Rwamesh Tainwala.

Designed by Accent Systems, the Bluetooth beacon will be built into the Track and Go suitcase although owners will have to register it though the Travlr by Samsonite App free at no cost. The App was initially launched in Sellers.eptember 2015 to offer flight tracking, tips and re minders to travelers.

The new Track and Go feature will allow users to monitor the location of the suitcase within a 70 meter radius and also issue alerts showing if it is moving closer or further from the owner. Should the suitcase go missing, the owner can flag it as lost in the App. Once it flagged as lost, the App uses its user base to help search for it, sending a signal to the owner, the moment anybody else with the App passes within 70 meters of the lost piece of luggage. The alert gives details of the suitcase, location and time.
