KAMPALA, APRIL12 –Ugandan businesses will get an opportunity to explore new opportunities when the European Business Forum hosts the inaugural Annual Business Expo and Food Festival next month in Kampala.

Dubbed “Three Days in Europe” the expo that runs from May 6-8 will provide a platform for Ugandan businesses to showcase their products and interact with their counterparts from the European market.

The business expo organized in association with embassies from EU states and private businesses will address opportunities in renewable energy, agriculture, performing arts, tourism trade, investment and value addition, EBF says in a statement.

John Peter Gaustad the Chair for European Business Forum says, “The event will facilitate trade partnership between Europe and Uganda, showcase expertise and embrace the European and Uganda culture through diversity”.

The business forum is a platform used to strengthen and develop the EU-Ugandan economic ties and it is born out of the growing number of European businesses and investments in Uganda.

So far 500 companies are doing business with Europe and about 20 percent of Uganda’s exports are to Europe and the expo intends to boost these numbers by providing opportunities to other businesses which are not on board yet.

Kristian Schmidt the Head of European Union Delegation in Uganda says the event is very important because Ugandans still have many opportunities to tap into and they have the potential to do so.
